The word “giclée” (pronounced zhe-claý) is used to describe the entire printmaking process, but it specifically refers to the final step in the process in which a high-quality large-format ink-jet printer is “spraying” (English for “giclée”) the image on the medium.
Giclées permit artists to offer limited editions of their original works at prices their customers find affordable.
Prices
There are two costs involved in making a giclée:
Digital Image Setup:
The digital image setup cost is associated with the time and expense of capturing, editing and proofing a digital image the first time a giclée is made. This is a one time charge and you will not pay it after the first order. The average cost for this part of the process is $75. This cost can be more if there are factors complicating the process by increasing the amount of time spent preparing the image. If you have a good, high resolution image of your work this cost can often be reduced.
Printing:
The other cost associated with giclée production is the actual printing. This can vary depending on the media the giclée is printed on. Presently we are offering Canvas at $10.00 per square foot. There is a $10 material setup charge for each order. This cost is per order and not per piece.

Susie Devitt
Panorama City, CA
I'm Susie Devitt. I've been painting for a little bit longer than I can remember. I knew from a very young age that I loved art. I also knew that I'd never have enough money to buy a real painting as I was sure it would cost millions of dollars. So I decided to learn to paint my own paintings. You can imagine the kind of paintings I hung on my bedroom walls when I was 7 years old! Since then I have studied with many artists privately, the University of Las Vegas extension, and Mission: Renaissance.
